There is usually at least one hideously long drive on VJV tours (a day trip to Honduras probably being the worst) and today we have a 6 hour journey to Konya and an early start.
We drove past Pamukkale shortly after leaving the hotel and it was a different view to yesterday's, so I took a few pictures through the window.
Ian then called out to Göksel asking if Aziz would mind stopping the coach for a few moments as he was sure most of the group would like to take a photo - I was absolutely amazed because Ian's not usually one to speak up. I'm so glad he did as we all hopped off the coach, took much better pictures and were back on in less than 5 mins.
When we stopped for our morning coffee it was raining so Aziz didn't get his usual bus wash done. I was however horrified to watch another coach driver sweep the rubbish from his coach onto the car park. His passengers were heavily cloaked women with small husbands and I would guess Indonesian or similar - certainly not adverse to dropping litter wherever they were from.
We stopped for lunch (included) on the outskirts of Eğirdir, which is on the shore of Lake Eğirdir (4th largest in Turkey). The restaurant specialised in fish and we had a very nice meal of Lentil Soup, Salad and then Fish & Chips but what made me chuckle was we were in a marquee type of place, lake side, and the food was all cooked and brought across the road to us. Good job there wasn't a lot of traffic. View from where we were sitting.
The roadside seemed a good place for the locals to store their apples presumably whilst they were awaiting collection.
I've already mentioned how well developed we found the areas we've visited, well Turkey also has the proud boast of being one of the few countries in the world which is self sufficient in food - no mean feat!
The scenery changed quite quickly at times from orchards to arable farming (with a few goats on the side) to quarrying.
