Heading now to our next overnight stop in Ankara via the UNESCO listed ruins of Hattuşa, about a 3 hour drive away (see separate post). A few shots through the coach window.
The area around Cappadocia is famous for its vineyards.
We haven't seen much in the way of animal farming, but each flock we have seen has always included a donkey.
Another example of several large blocks of flats seemingly built in the middle of nowhere
I don't remember where this town was but the roundabout decoration was lovely, unless of course it was sponsored by drug barons!
Nothing exceptional about this except the chap then gave me the most lovely big smile and an enthusiastic wave.
As usual we stopped at a roadside garage/café for a break. I must admit I'd been rather concerned about the standards of facilities we'd find in Turkey as on our only previous visit, a daytrip from Kos to Bodrum in 2001, we'd paid ₺1,000,000 to go to the loo only to find it was just a hole in the ground. My, how times have changed - the loos we visited didn't necessarily all have lovely floral displays like this one, but they were without exception spotlessly clean, even if worn and stained, and fully equipped with loo paper and soap.
Some even had these amazing toilet seat covers - just watch, how neat is this!
This is Aziz, our safe but very, very fast driver - everyone who has sat at the front, except me, has declined to on the next trip - sometimes it's a little disconcerting when you can see the speedo hovering at 140kms in a 70kms limit, but he does know his roads.
Sugar Beet
Aziz once again supervising the coach cleaning during our afternoon stop.
Back on the coach Göksel went round offering these sweets to us all - they were delicious. I think they were chick peas with various coatings, including chocolate. He went on to explain that they were a speciality of the area we'd just stopped at and he always bought some when he passed through. I don't really understand why he didn't share this information, or the snacks, whilst we were still at the refreshment area as some of us would have liked to have bought some.
